Specialist Psychotherapy and Counselling Services

Every individual who comes to therapy arrives with a unique constellation of history, need and readiness. The services below reflect both the breadth of my training and areas of specialisation.

I work with a full spectrum of people, of all ages and genders, with individuals and with couples. In addition to providing general counselling and psychotherapy, I also specialise in trauma-resolution.

Individual, Couples and Group Work:

Individual counselling and psychotherapy

Whether you're navigating a current crisis, working through long-held patterns, or simply ready to understand yourself more deeply, individual counselling and psychotherapy offers a confidential, unhurried space to do that work. Sessions are available online via Zoom. Therapy can be short, medium or long-term depending on your needs and goals.

Couples counselling and psychotherapy

Relationships are one of the most powerful — and most challenging — arenas for personal growth. One of my key areas of expertise is in working with couples. I work with couples who are navigating conflict, disconnection, communication breakdown, issues relating to intimacy and sexuality, and the range of challenges that arise when old attachment wounds get activated in intimate partnership. The focus is not just on resolving immediate tension, but on helping you to build a more conscious, honest and sustainable relationship foundation.

In my couples' work, I draw on cutting edge relational approaches including, for example, Terry Real’s Relational Life therapy (RLT) and the Learning Love work developed by Krish and Amana Trobe.

Groups, workshops and retreats

Group-based processes offer something that individual therapy cannot: the particular alchemy of being witnessed, challenged and supported by others who are also doing their own work. I facilitate sharing groups and workshops, and I am a Facilitator of the Path of Love retreats internationally. New retreats and workshops are currently in development — details will be available on the Groups and Workshops page soon.

Conditions worked with: Trauma Resolution and Somatic Experiencing (SE):

Trauma takes many forms, and so does its resolution. I work across the full spectrum of traumatic experience using Somatic Experiencing (SE) — an approach that heals at the level of the nervous system, without requiring you to relive what happened.

Shock trauma, abuse and C/PTSD

Accidents, violence, physical or sexual abuse, medical trauma and the effects of complex longterm trauma— these are experiences that can leave a lasting imprint on the nervous system long after the event itself has passed. Using Somatic Experiencing, I work to gently and permanently resolve the body's held response to shock trauma, including Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and Complex PTSD (CPTSD).

Attachment and developmental trauma

Not all trauma is the result of a single event. Developmental and attachment trauma — the accumulated impact of early childhood experiences, neglect, or not having our emotional needs consistently met — can shape the way we relate to ourselves and others for decades. This work is quieter, and often deeper, than shock trauma resolution, but no less transformative.

Accumulated stress, anxiety and depression

You don't need to have experienced a capital-T trauma to benefit from somatic therapy. Many people carry years of accumulated stress in their nervous system — a background hum of anxiety, flatness, or low-grade depression that talk therapy has never quite reached. SE works well here, often with results that surprise people in their swiftness and their depth.

Areas of Special Interest:

Attachment healing for individuals and couples

I have a particular interest in working with people whose early attachment experiences have left them with attachment adaptations — ways of relating that keeps connection at arm's length, often without fully understanding why. Through a combination of somatic work and depth psychotherapy, it is possible to move from avoidant, anxious or disorganised patterning towards something closer to secure attachment: in relationship with others, and with oneself.

Psychosis, spiritual emergency and spiritual emergence

For many years I taught the ‘Spiritual Emergence / Psychosis’ module to people studying to become Transpersonal Counsellors at the Phoenix Institute (now IKON). Through this and through my clinical experience of working with people and families dealing with a diagnosis of psychosis, I holds a rare and nuanced understanding of the territory where psychological crisis and spiritual experience intersect.

For some people, what gets labelled as psychosis or breakdown is better understood as a spiritual emergence — a profound, if destabilising, opening that calls for careful, informed support rather than purely medical management. I works with clients navigating this terrain with the depth of care it deserves.

Training and Supervision for Therapists

If you are a therapist or a student of therapy, I offer both personal and professional supervision to therapists.
